In Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC),  modified Child Pugh score can be used. The upper limit for 1 point is 4 mg/dL (68 μmol/L) and the upper limit for 2 points is 10 mg/dL (170 μmol/L).

Hepatic Encephalopathy – West Haven Criteria

Grade 1 – Trivial lack of awareness; euphoria or anxiety; shortened attention span; impaired performance of addition or subtraction
Grade 2 – Lethargy or apathy; minimal disorientation for time or place; subtle personality change; inappropriate behaviour
Grade 3 – Somnolence to semistupor, but responsive to verbal stimuli; confusion; gross disorientation
Grade 4 – Coma
